With Texas Medicaid making cuts on what seems like a daily basis, we feel like it is prudent to keep our overhead as low as possible. Our office is located in Lufkin (where rent and cost of living are low) and the majority of our operations team work from their homes across the state. This allows us to pay our therapists more and be prepared for any future changes the state may enact.
Mainly because everyone in our organization believes that our therapists should be the best-paid employees on our roster. When Texas Medicaid made their cuts in 2017, our office staff took the brunt of the cuts and our CEO is actually our lowest paid employee. See: Why do you only have one office?
Premier has been utilizing the HealthTrust Software platform since nearly day 1 of operations. Though it does take a few visits to get the hang of (like just about anything), most of our therapists really like the interface and the fact that they can document on a tablet or laptop and they can work both online and offline. Say goodbye to your concerns about seniority because around here, we don’t put a lot of stock in that. As long as we have patients that need a therapist, your job is secure (as long as you aren’t breaking the law obviously) and we want to work with you! We never cut therapists just because our reimbursements are cut!
0. Zip. Nada. Zero. Nil.
Yes, you read that correctly. We do not have ANY visit or hour minimums in order to stay employed with Premier Pediatric Therapy. Our mission is to bring health and healing to children in need and in order for us to do that, we need as many therapists as possible available to provide care. Now with that being said, we obviously love it when therapists can perform 20, 30, 40 + visits per week for us (and we offer some pretty sweet incentives and benefits for those that do) but we do not require them to perform any certain number to keep seeing the kids they have built a connection with!
Ummmmm…. YES! Some therapists have a passion for getting out there and building their own caseload and for that, we applaud you! We want to provide care to as many patients as possible so if you can find some that we can’t/haven’t, then, by all means, bring them on!
We staff referrals and open cases via several methods:
1. Online Map: All referrals are added to a secure, online map that you will be given access to upon the completion of your hiring documentation. This map is updated every single day and can be sorted by discipline, location, availability, etc.
2. Text Message: We want referrals staffed ASAP so we also send out mass texts to all therapists in the area nearest the patient.
If you have been in home health very long you know that the schedule ultimately comes down to the availability of the patient but outside of that, yes, you can set your own schedule. Our company does not force you to work within any kind of time constraints when seeing patients.
